While it is easy to brush of Valentine’s Day as a “Hallmark” or “Consumer” holiday, it doesn’t stop people from sending candies, flowers and other gifts to their loved ones and sweethearts every February 14th. At Rejuvenation Spa we also celebrate Valentine’s Day as numerous couples come in to relax together or to simply give the gift of rejuvenation. As the holiday approaches, at Rejuvenation Spa we thought we would share a little history of the holiday with you to remind you why it’s nice to let that special someone know you’re thinking about them.

The myths go that Saint Valentine was alive sometime during the reign of the Roman Empire Claudius II in the third century. One is that Valentine was a priest who secretly married young couples after the Emperor outlawed marriage for young men reasoning that they made more dedicated soldiers than married men with families. Another goes that Valentine, while in prison at some point in his life was the sender of the original Valentine. Legend has it that he fell in love with his jailers daughter and would send her love letters signed “Your Valentine”. It is still unclear however if February 14th was the date of his birth, his death, or just a random date chosen by the church when he was made a Saint.

Whatever the real story is, the fact is that February 14th is a day to celebrate the love and romance in your life. So, whether that includes relaxing massages with chakra aligning scents or a gift certificate for a salon or spa service, Rejuvenation Spa has you covered.

Give your Valentine a Rejuvenation Spa gift card, so they can come in and pick something they’ll love. Better yet, receive a free travel-size hand relief* when you purchase $50 or more in Rejuvenation Spa gift cards.
