Pamper with a Purpose

Help Save Lives

Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) is breast cancer that has spread beyond the breast to other organs in the body. MBC is the most advanced staage of breast cancer – also knows as Stave IV. It causes nearly all of the more than 41,000 breast cancer deaths each year in the United States.

Between 20% and 30% of women with early stage breast cancer will develop metastatic disease. There is no cure with the medium survival being three years.

Rejuvenation Spa is partnering with other local hairstylists, salons and spas for Pamper with a Purpose, in support of the More For Stage IV fund and its founder Mary Gooze.

Mary Gooze was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and underwent nine months of treatment involving surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Twenty months after her treatments, she found out that the hip pain she was experiencing was cancer. The breast cancer had metastasized to the bones and some of her organs.

WIth all the awareness and funding for breast cancer, less than 10% of all the monies raised goes towards the research needed to discover drugs and treatments for those with MBC. To help remedy this, Mary created a fund at the UW Carbone Cancer Center called More For Stage IV. To date over $700,000 has been raised for Stage IV research at Carbone.

Even though the monies raised today for research may not benefit Mary directly, they will hopefully insure a cure be found for our mothers, daughters, granddaughters, and friends. See the Carbone Cancer Center’s brochures to learn more.

Rejuvenation spa will be donating $1 for every service ticket from both Rejuvenation Spa locations to the More For Stage IV fund on June 19, 2019. To donate go to: tap the red DONATE button (or click here). You can also make out a check payable to UWCCC and leave it with Rejuvenation Spa.
